With the two six-storey “SKOffice” office buildings in Dortmund, TCHOBAN VOSS Architekten have created a modern and sustainable working environment for various companies on around 18,000 sqm.

SKOffice relies on a flexible space concept that can be adapted to the individual tenants as required.

The U-shaped buildings open up to the south with their green inner courtyards.

Brick, straight lines and earthy tones exude the charm of industrial architecture, which blends unobtrusively into the green surroundings.

The light-colored brickwork of the street façades has slightly protruding clinker brick heads that create an exciting interplay of light and shadow during the course of the day. These façade accents extend to the corners of the building, where they gradually diminish towards the south. This visually emphasizes the transition from the noisy street to the quiet inner courtyards.

The dark-framed window elements are offset from one another over two storeys and become increasingly longer from bottom to top.

At the corners of the street façades, the first two storeys are set back and mark the main entrances.

Between the two volumes, a covered ramp leads to the shared underground garage with e-charging stations for cars and bicycles. A brine-to-water heat pump serves as the sustainable primary energy source for the buildings. There are photovoltaic systems on the green roofs to generate electricity.
